Homes, 2005-2006

Homes è un'indagine circostanziata di una abitazione popolare a Berlino che si presenta nelle forme di una installazione fotografica. A destra sta una grande immagine d'architettura scattata al crepuscolo, quando l'equilibrio fra le luci artificiali e quelle naturali crea una scena teatrale e suggestiva. A sinistra, ci sono 38 immagini di piccole dimensioni, che rivelano schegge di vita quotidiana rubate dalla finestre dello stesso palazzo. La contrapposizione fra la qualità formale e fotografica della prima immagine e la quotidianità e la granulosità dei particolari, intende evidenziare l'incrocio fra artificio e quotidianità.

Presented in the form of a photographic installation, Homes is a circumstantial investigation of a council block in Berlin. On the right hand side of the installation, the viewer finds an architectural image shot at dusk when the balance between artificial and daylight creates a theatrical and very suggestive scene. On the left hand side, one finds 38 images of small dimension, which reveal instances of everyday lives stolen from windows of the same council block. The juxtaposition of the formal quality of the first image with the mundaneness and the granular detailed appearance of the latter images, emphasises the intersection between artifice and everyday life.
